2025-2026 Uniform Policy & Dress Code

BCES has a new standard student uniform policy for 2025-26! The school is shifting from requiring the maroon “Bailey” school logo uniform top (worn prior to ‘25-‘26) to include a broader and more accessible set of options for students and families. For the 2025-26 school year, permissible student attire includes the following:

Tops: Solid, collared shirts or blouses (polo-style shirt or button-down)—maroon, gray, black or white. The Bailey logo, ‘polo’-style uniform tops of the past continue to be acceptable and encouraged.

Bottoms: Solid-colored skirts, pants, shorts or jeans in the following colors: khaki, gray, blue or black. The BCES collared shirts with logo remain available for purchase in the school office. No distressed jeans or clothing with designs or bling is permitted. Sweatshirts with the Bailey school logo may be worn over the standard uniform during cool weather (permitted indoors). Non-Bailey sweatshirts/hoodies are not permitted indoors over the school uniform. BCES has chosen to adopt additional dress code standards in alignment with those established by the school’s charter sponsor—Washoe County School District (WCSD) in Administrative Regulation 5102. For information about these standards, please see the Quicklink below titled "Washoe County School District Uniform Policy".

Knowledge of these guidelines is important as all students are expected to comply with this policy. The school uniform must be worn to school each day, Monday through Wednesday unless otherwise specified as an “Alternative Dress Day.” Alternative Dress Days will be published on the website and communicated through Bloomz/family messaging. If a student repeatedly fails to wear the specified uniform and/or follow the dress code, the school will contact the parent/guardian. The student will be provided with uniform attire for the day and will remain at school; no student will be sent home for failure to comply with the uniform policy. A parent conference will be scheduled if continuous violation of the uniform policy occurs.

Alternative Dress Days A range of Alternative Dress Days are enjoyed by students in the BCES community. Thursdays and Fridays are consistent Alternative Dress Days: Thursdays—Students may wear Bailey Charter ES spirit attire OR the BCES uniform (e.g., alternative sweatshirts or T-shirts with the Bailey ES logo available for purchase at: https://logoedtees.com under the School Stores tab (coming soon! Not available to order until 7/28/25). Thursday is a day on which students must be in some type of BCES attire (spirit wear or BCES uniform). Fridays: Students may wear T-shirts or sweatshirts with any Kindness-themed message (e.g., “Be Kind,” “Kindness Matters,” “Spread Kindness”) available for purchase from any retailer of choice (e.g., Etsy, Amazon, other online stores, etc.). If students do not choose to wear kindness attire on Fridays, they must be in BCES uniform.

Other examples of Alternative Dress Days are: Spirit Days and $2 Dress Down Days. There are 4 Spirit Weeks (Oct., Dec., March, June) throughout the school year during which each day has a theme, often tied to a holiday or special event. On these days, uniforms are not required, but the Student Dress Code (WCSD Administrative Regulation 5102) remains in effect. $2 Dress Down Days occur approximately once/month, typically on Wednesday. These days serve as a fundraiser for our community to support school events like field trips, family nights, etc. On $2 Dress Down Day, students who offer a $2 donation are permitted to wear “free dress” as long as it complies with the Student Dress Code (WCSD Administrative Regulation 5102). Fall and Spring picture day are free dress days; students may wear anything they choose that complies with the Student Dress Code (WCSD Administrative Regulation 5102).
